The Manager of Business Development is a strategic leader responsible for expanding business opportunities, increasing revenue, and enhancing market presence. This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong strategic planning, market analysis, and relationship management background. The Manager of Business Development will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies that align with the company’s long-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the business development team, setting clear objectives and performance targets
- Drive the company’s growth objectives by meeting or exceeding established performance metrics, revenue targets, and key business milestones
- Oversee business development staff to build a high-performing team. Responsible for hiring decisions, training, mentorship, and development
- Create plans and strategies for developing/commercializing the Sales units to achieve the company’s overall technology sales goals while maintaining the delivery of quality solutions
- Lead the exploration and development of new business opportunities, partnerships and customer segments.
- Set clear expectations for team performance, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to drive individual and team accountability to Key Performance Indicators
- Work with Operations leads to ensure strategic initiatives are integrated into daily operations. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies, adjusting as necessary using data for decision-making. Work closely with the President and other management to align operational objectives with overall company goals
- Maintain clear and honest communication about progress, challenges, and results with stakeholders, providing regular updates and detailed reports
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting and performance reporting
- Utilize data and analytics to inform strategies and decisions, ensuring that all initiatives are aligned with the overall business goals and deliver measurable results
- Understand client needs and market trends to provide tailored solutions and drive client satisfaction
- Prepare and present reports on growth performance, market trends, and competitive landscape to senior management
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability
- Create & drive an innovative approach to business development with continuous improvement in systems, services, processes and standards
- Working with the business development team to engage in high-level negotiations to increase revenue and build strong relationships with clients
- Collaborate with marketing, product management, and operations teams to align growth strategies with company initiatives
- Provide regular performance feedback, and recognition, and conduct performance reviews
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions
- Travel may be required throughout SysGen’s geographical area (Alberta & BC) based on business needs and client interactions
Knowledge and Skill requirements:
- 8+ years’ experience in business development and growth strategy with a minimum of 5 years’ in a managerial role
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
- Ensure the team develop a mixed sales funnel of short-term, mid-term and long-term prospects that align with SysGen’s ideal client
- Experience in managing high-value sales cycles and key accounts
- Proven track record of successfully developing and executing growth strategies
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in vendor events
- Strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex business challenges
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team
- Proficiency in CRM software, business intelligence tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
